Who Is This Course For?
Psychology would be enjoyed by students who are interested in understanding human behaviour. Psychology aims to describe and explain both the universality of human experience and individual and cultural diversity. It does this through the systematic study of behaviour, the processes that underlie it, and the factors that influence it. Through such study, students come to better understand themselves and their social worlds.
What Will I Learn?
In this subject, students are expected to:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the factors that cause psychological differences and similarities between people and give examples of how these factors affect the behaviour of themselves, others, and groups
The course will be structured through completing the following topics:
- Introduction to Psychology (compulsory)
Plus two of the following topics:
- Social Behaviour
- Intelligence
- Cognition
- Brain and Behaviour
- Human Psychological Development
- Emotion
- Memory
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed based on:
- Assessment Type 1: Investigations Folio
- Assessment Type 2: Skills and Applications Tasks
A minimum of four tasks will be assessed
This subject leads to a Stage 2 subject with an external examination, so both Psychology A & B will have a trial exam.
