Who Is This Course For?
The Research Project is a compulsory subject, which can be undertaken in Year 12, or it can be chosen in second semester of Year 11. It’s a one-semester, 10-credit subject, and you need to achieve a C– grade or better to gain your SACE.
What Will I Learn?
The Research Project gives you the chance to do in-depth research on a topic you are interested in. It could be, for example, an enterprise or entrepreneurial project, a scientific study, an art project, a community-based project, a historical investigation, or any number of other options.
It allows you to use your creativity and initiative while developing skills in analysis, evaluation, research, and project management.
You can enrol in either Research Project A or Research Project B. Your teacher will help you make this choice.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed based on the type of Research Project you choose:
The following assessment types enable students to demonstrate their learning in Stage 2 Research Project A:
School Assessment – 70%

- Assessment Type 2: Research Outcome – 40%
External Assessment – 30%
- Assessment Type 3: Review – 30%
