Who Is This Course For?
Students who are interested in ancient history, civilisations and cultures, and the classics will find this subject rewarding, as well as those who like to study history in general.
What Will I Learn?
Students learn about the history, literature, society, and culture of ancient civilisations, which may include those of Asia–Australia, the Americas, Europe, and Western Asia/North Africa, and the classical civilisations of Greece and Rome.
Over the course of the year, students will investigate three of the following topics:
- 1) Daily life
- 2) Military conflict
- 3) Political power and authority
- 4) Religion
- 5) Material culture
- 6) Literature — prose, narrative, or epic
- 7) Literature — drama and poetry.
How will I be assessed?
Students provide evidence of their learning through
seven or eight assessments, including the external assessment component.
Students produce:
at least
four skills and applications tasks
at least two
connections tasks
one inquiry.
Ancient Studies does not have an external exam at
Stage 2.
