What Will I Learn?
The South Australian Aboriginal Secondary Training Academy (SAASTA), also referred to as Big SAASTA, is targeted at year 10 -12 Aboriginal student who wish to study curriculum areas that have a focus on Aboriginal culture, community connection and identity, whilst working in a supportive team environment of peers. This is an excellence program that encourages and rewards students who are excelling in all areas of their schooling, measured using a set of key performance indicators (KPIs), with unique experiences such as the annual Santos Aboriginal Power Cup and SAASTA Shield. The program engages students in their learning, whilst providing opportunities for students to foster positive relationships with peers, community and organisations, and/whilst develop skills in leadership and work place practices. In completing the SAASTA programs, students will also be well on their way to achieving their SACE certificate, as they begin studying Stage 1 courses in year 10 and Stage 2 courses in year 11 and 12.
