Who Is This Course For?
Students who want to express ideas through practical work using drawings, sketches, diagrams, models, photographs and/or audio visual techniques leading to resolved pieces of art or design products.
What Will I Learn?
This is the Design strand.
You will have opportunities to explore the vast field of visual art forms that exist across diverse cultural and historical platforms including looking at contemporary art and design. Creativity and artistic expression are central to the learning in art and design. You will be immersed in learning experiences that involve researching the work of artists and designers, developing personal ideas, and experimenting with practical methods and techniques in the production and evaluation of individual artworks and products.
You will have the opportunity to create resolved works which may include:
- Design: Product design: e.g. toy, fashion, furniture. Graphic and visual communication design: e.g. branding, illustration, and advertising
How will I be assessed?
You will demonstrate evidence of your learning through the following assessment types:
- Folio – ideas and experimentation
- Practical and Practitioners Statement – major work using ideas in the folio
- Visual Study – based on an Australian artist or designer (practical and some written)
